TEDxKonstanz

In August 2020 I was approached by the team putting together TEDxKonstanz, who were seeking an animated introduction to use in front of the talks (which were eventually held virtually).

The theme for the event was “Kaleidoscope: Patterns in Nature and Society”, and the theme-inspired aesthetic for the animation spawned a wide-reaching identity that manifested as posters, billboards, banners, teaser animaations, social media graphics and physical collateral.

I built an “inside-the-Kaleidoscope” 3-D miniature of the Konstanz harbor in Blender, emphasizing familiar landmarks and serving as a backdrop for the blizzard of glass-like trinkets——each inspired by the subject of the talks——suspended, dreamlike, in the air. This setup allowed us to make the most of our limited assets, moving cameras around the 3-D space and repositioning the pieces to generate different stills or videos.
